Mr. Michael Anthony Fortes, 54, was called home at Piedmount Newton Hospital in Covington, GA, on Thursday, September 16, 2021. His loving family was nearby. Born on October 21, 1966 in Providence, RI to Mary Fortes and the late John Fortes, he accepted Christ at a young age and also was an altar boy at St Teresa’s Church. Mikey served his country in the National Guard and served his community as a devoted activist with a big heart. He received a certificate in Culinary Arts while his desire was always to own a Food Truck. Mikey loved to encourage and help others. He resided in Covington, GA with his sister Michelle. He enjoyed attending church services along with riding his motorcycle. Mikey will be remembered sitting in the backyard enjoying talking on the phone to his loved ones.
Survivors include his wife Christina Fortes, his two daughters, Christina and Michelle Fortes, his grandchildren, Benjamin Fortes, Jairo Fortes and Jenaiya Hernandez, his mother Mary Fortes, his loving siblings, Anthony Fortes and wife Migdalia Fortes, his twin sister Michelle Fortes and youngest sister Teresa Fortes. He leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces. Mikey was preceded in death by his grandson the late Lorenzo Rodriguez, his father the late John Fortes and his sister the late Mary Louise Fortes. A service will be held for Mikey at St Francis Cemetery in the chapel on Saturday, October 2, 2021 @ 11:00am.
